Rural Care

Rural Care

Rural Care provides training and work experience for disadvantaged people (particularly those with learning difficulties and/or mental health issues) in a supportive and caring environment at Church Farm.

Ann and her professional team, together with local volunteers have 6 to 8 people in their care helping on the farm. We use the term "co-farmer" as all of these people make a valueable contribution to growing food.

Co-farmers work in small mixed ability teams in a variety of jobs to suit individual interests, needs and abilities. Co-farmers are supported by fully qualified and experienced staff.

The best people to describe it are probably the co-farmers themselves:

‘I work here! I like coming here. We cleaned out the chickens and they looked so happy with their new straw.’

‘Digging makes you happy’

We work closely with Hertfordshire Adult Care Services and with North Herts College.
