Evidence for Action

Acting Locally
Boosting our economy, building resilience

We have all been told we must learn to think more globally over the last 20 years, as we have witnessed the amazing spread of global finance, markets and corporatism.

After the events of recent years we, like many people, have fears for the future and are feeling the economic downturn. Add to that concerns over environmental degradation and climate change, as well as energy and food security, and it seems that we have an uncertain future which is increasingly beyond our control.

We are trying to do something about this. We have learnt from local movements springing up across this country and abroad, that it is possible to develop vibrant, local, low impact, rural economies and take more control of our own future and security.

We aim to form a community of like minded people who wish to take greater control of how their money is spent and generated and make it count in their local area.

If you share the views and outlook outlined here, please consider joining us in our effort to create realworld, tangible value in our local area, and also to circulate that value so that it grows and continues to
create new opportunities.

There may be no going back from many of the problems of globalisation, but we feel that we are developing a rational response in order to secure food, essentials and the good things in life, locally.

The films below are some other reasons for action.

Imagine that a storm blows across your garden and that now, genetically-manipulated seeds are in your crops. A multi-national corporation pay you a visit, demand that you surrender your crops - and then sue you for $200 000 for the illegal use of patented, GM seeds. In this definitive David and Goliath battle, one farmer stands up against a massive multinational, and their right to claim ownership to a living organism....
