Campfire, Music & Sleepunder
the Stars Weekends

Relax in Handy Corner. Camp. Sleep under the stars.
Jamming. Campfires, Camaraderie.
No electric : No impact : No litter


Saturday 24th July to Sunday 25th July
Saturday 4th to Sunday 5th September

 

These will be relaxed low key events held on green and pleasant land. Bring your own food, entertainment and music. These are small scale private farm events to which all customers and people of good nature are welcome.

 

Compost toilets, water and a campfire provided. Showers and conventionaltoilets available at the farm. Bring your own or buy food and drink from the Farm Cafe and Store. Please bring everything you need for your comfortand survival. Limited spaces available so please book in advance. Contribution from each guest: £10 for adults, £8 for under 16’s and £2 for under 2’s. Free for musicians and volunteers.

 

Sausage & Ale Festival

Saturday 28th August. Come along to taste the best Church Farm sausages and local ale. There will be tasting sessions and demonstrations throughout the day.

 

Weekend Treats

Help the Farmer collect eggs

Every Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 3pm. Get your wellies on and take on the responsibilities of a real famer by collecting your very own freshly laid eggs. A real hands-on experience for all the family. Children £4.50 (must be accompanied by an adult. First adult free, additional adults £4.95).

 

Tractor and Trailer Rides

Every Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 3pm. Hop aboard our tractor and trailer for a 3 mile ride around the farm. Learn more about our environmentally sustainable farming adventure. See where your food comes from and how your favourite animals work, live and play. £4.95 per person. FREE for children sitting on an adult's lap.

 

Experience Days

On demand. Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a real farmer? Are you longing to escape to the countryside to learn more about horticulture, livestock or conservation? If so, then sign up to one of our experience days. You'll get to have a talk and tour of the farm, followed by some real practical experience in the area of your choice. 9am-5pm. £45 (including lunch in the Farm Café). Not suitable for children under 14. Children aged 14 - 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Give us a ring to fi nd out more. Pre-booking is essential.

 

Workshops & Courses

 

Spinning for Beginners – Taster Days

Come and enjoy learning the basics of carding, spinning and plying your spin wool in a private house. Fleece from Church Farm's white Lleyn sheep provided, as well as tea and coffee. Friday 23rd July, Friday 6th August, Saturday 28th August, Friday 10th September and Saturday 18th September. 10am3.30pm. £35 plus £5 for materials.

 

Beekeeping

Saturday 17th July and Saturday 7th August. Join beekeeper, Euan Brierley, at 2pm to 5pm to fi nd out more about why bees are kept in hives, the life cycle of the bee, essential beekeeping equipment and the risks involved. As long as the weather is fi ne, you'll be able to open up our hives as well. £30.

 

Painting Taster Days

Want to have a go at painting? Come and learn some basics in acrylic, watercolour or oil. Small groups in a private house. Tea and coffee provided, as well as materials. You can also bring your own. Saturday 17th July, Saturday 14th August, Friday 20th August, Saturday 4th September and Friday 24th September. 10am-12.30pm. £10 (minimum of 4 people).

 

Drawing Lessons

Can't draw? Yes you can! Come to Rosemary Anthony's drawing lessons at Church Farm at 10am on Sunday 18th July, Thursday 22nd July, 29th July, 5th August, 12th August, 19th August, 19th August, 9th September and 16th September. £10 per 2 hour session. Call 01438 869 807 for further details.

 

Home Chicken Keeping

Join Angie Cumming, our resident poultry breeder, to learn more about keeping chickens in your garden. Two-hour family courses will run at 10am and 2pm on 30th July. Adults £30, Children £15. In-depth courses will run from 10.30am-3pm on Tuesday 17th August and Saturday 11th September. £65.

 

NEW: Grow your own food Workshop

Saturday 31st July and Saturday 28th August. Develop skills for sowing and growing food with Richard Grimshaw. Use seasonal produce to learn more about planting in a container, balcony and garden. 2pm-4pm. Suitable for all the family. £8 (Free for adults supervising children).

 

Moth Night - Walk & Talk

Saturday 31st July. Join moth expert, Colin Plant, to learn about these widely misunderstood nocturnal creatures. This walk-and-talk, which will take place in the woods at 10pm - will include moth trapping and the identifi cation of different moth species. A great experience for all the family. Adults £6.50, Children £3.50.

 

Herbal Remedies Workshop

Saturday 7th August. Have you ever wanted to make your own potions and lotions? This workshop is all about making a range of simple herbal remedies and beauty products using plants from the local environment. The 4 hour session will cover: choosing plants, harvesting and drying herbs, infusions, decoctions, tinctures and syrups, hot and cold infused oils and how to make creams, ointment and body butters. £20

 

NEW: Wildflower Walk & Talk

Saturday 14th August. Identify and learn more about wild fl owers on a walk and talk with Stephen Mason. 2pm-5pm. Adults £6.50.

 

Bat Walk & Talk

Saturday 21st August and Friday 17th September. Bat by popular demand! After April's highly successful bat walk, we wanted to give you more opportunities to come along on this magical and fascinating walk-and-talk with Roger Harvard at dusk. Adults £6.50, Children £3.50.

 

Peg-loom Weaving Workshop

Saturday 21st August. Learn how to use a very simple form of weaving loom. You can make heavy or lighter textiles, weave with fl eece, cloth strips or yarn. 10am-4pm. Materials provided, but bring your own if you have some textiles or fi bres you would like to use. £40.

 

NEW: Sausage-making Workshop

Tuesday 24th August. This session run by Pete, our butcher, will include a butchery demonstration, as well as the opportunity to make your own sausages. You'll even get to take home half a dozen. Special introductory offer: £50.

 

Migrant Bird Walk

Saturday 4th September. This walk-and-talk with local bird expert, Richard Pople, focuses on the variety of migrant bird species which can be seen around the Farm during summertime. 8am-10am. Adults £6.50, Children £3.50.

 

An Introduction to Pig Keeping

Saturday 11th September. Come along on this hands-on practical course with Roger Waygood to learn about the techniques of keeping free-range pigs. The day will cover feeding, handling, housing, what to look for when choosing your pig, and an overview of the rules and regulations associated with keeping pigs. 10am-3pm. £45 (including lunch at the café).

 

NEW: Elderberry Workshop

Saturday 25th September (depends on season). Discover the folklore of the sacred Elder and learn how to make Elderberry Rob to help ward off winter chills. Weather permitting, a short walk around the farm harvesting elderberries, then back to make some syrup! 11am-1pm. £40.

 

NEW: Preserving Workshop

Saturday 2nd October. Learn the basic techniques and skills of preserving with Lynne Temple and Ann De Bock using produce that is seasonally available at that time of year. You'll learn about equipment, sterilizing ingredients, preserving ingredients, preserving techniques and setting points. Bring jars and lids so that you can take home some samples. 10am-3pm. £30.
